M Y JOURNEY TO RWANDA
On January 2013, I received the call from Pastor Tony Kapola saying that I’m the one who is supposed to go for East Africa Apologetic Conference in Rwanda. Few days before his call I invested all the money into business and when I checked the balance I found only 200 TZS considering that the journey required more than 80,000TZS to Butare, Rwanda. What I actually did was to focus on my faith. I heard myself saying “Let him find someone else”. I remembered one statement “God will guide your steps but if you’re afraid of taking the steps what do you expect God to guide?” Without doubts I took my bag packed everything required and I started the journey. One step ahead, I met a maid at the door who gave me 1,000TZS, I said, “wow, I’m already in town” so I took the minibus to town where I met my friend who gave me 10,000 TZS. That helped to reach Dar es Salaam city. The fare to the city was 7,000TZS. I went to TAQWA bus office asking for bus which will be leaving the next day. They told me, it’s 80,000TZS to Kigali. I laughed, I sat down and call some friends who managed to send me 50,000TZS. My faith grew and I went to my friend who is residing at Dar es Salaam to sleep. Early in the morning I woke up run to bus stand ready go to Rwanda having nearly 55,000TZS. I took the bus that will take me to Kahama District, few Kilometres from Tanzania-Rwanda border. They charged me 45,000TZS. We arrived at Kahama 9pm. I was tired so I decided to sleep in the bus. In the morning I took the bus to Kigali, but I didn’t have enough money because its fare amounted to 25,000TZS. I told the bus conductor I’ll pay at the border. She agreed, soon or later my friend sent 20,000TZS via mobile phone. I paid 19,000TZS via mobile phone and the remaining by cash. When we crossed the border then to Kigali, I took another minibus to Butare where it was the conference center. I was amazed to see I had only 200TZS in my pocket and I didn’t exchange at the border. i enjoyed everything at the conference. The time we were saying goodbye to each other, one of the speakers, Dr. Gymn from Korea who was residing at Tanzania gave 100USD. He said “God told me to give you the money” I received that envelope amazingly. When I was going back to Tanzania I was given all the fare I used plus the other for the remaining trip back to Tanzania.
I remembered this quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."
